2012 Rosies

So here's our 2012 westside bulls. The first one is my dads the second is mine. I've been waiting to post these in hopes on adding another bull but my wife wasnt able to fill her tag. She came close though! She does have a toutle cow tag, but shes been wanting to hunt where she can take a bull so we havent ventured there yet.
On Dads bull we hunted a place we've hunted for years. Walked in and started down the timber. As soon as we hit the lower skid road we could hear a bull screaming on his own. We worked in closer and he quit talkin. I let out some cow calls and bugles and he started bugling again. He was pretty close so we got set up. He wasnt really moving so i got a little more aggressive with the bugles and that set him off! He came up a steep hill side 15 yards from Dad and he let an arrow fly. He drilled the bull perfectly and he went about 40 yards and fell over dead. I was suprised how quick the bull went down. It wasnt 20 seconds after Dad shot him that he fell over. It was awesome sitting back calling and watching everything happen. Dads best bull to date!
My bull we ended up going to an area with alot of clearcuts. We dont usually like to bow hunt clearcuts because it can be pretty tough to get close but it was an evening hunt and wanted to find one for tomorrow! We ended up bustin some cows and a bull on the road we were on. I ended up getting 103 yards from the bull but that was as close as I could get. He went down in the crick bottom and we left him alone, figured we would go after him again in the morning.
The next morning we got there way before light. Let out some bugles and cow calls and he finally responded with a bugle. We waited for it to get light and headed in that direction. The bull was unresponsive to anymore of my calling for quite some time. We kept going knowing we had to be close when we jumped his cows, no bull though! I let out some cow calls trying to stop the cows which they did! The bull instantly let out some screams, i think he thought another bull was movin in on his cows. The road we were on went straight towards where the bull sounded like he was and ended. We snuck up to the end of the landing and set up. Dad stayed back about 50 yards got in the brush and started bustin some branches. I started doing some cow calls and could hear the bull getting closer. He hung up for quite some time so I kept on the cow calls. Finally I could see his horns starting up the landing! I drew back and ofcourse he stopped. All I could see was his horns and his head. He kept staring in the direction of my dads branch busting and finally couldnt resist and walked up 10 yards from me! I shot and knew I drilled him. He ran about 50 yards down the clearcut and started twrillin around. He stopped for a second, quarterin away from me so I figured as long as he's standing I'm going to shoot again. Drilled him a second time and he went another 10 steps and fell over! My biggest rosey to date too. Awesome year for us and the freezers are full! Good luck to everyone still huntin!
