Two bucks in one day!!!
« on: October 14, 2012, 11:18:03 PM »
Super tired so no long story yet. Wife shot a buck this morning. After a long game of cat and mouse she made a 334 yard shot and put it down. problem was that once we got up to it we could see it was nasty. It had a broken foot that was oozing puss, it was super skinny, and when we cut it open it was crawling with WORMS! :puke: I contacted the game department and they cam out to look at the buck. We were given two options 1) keep the horns and burn the tag they would take the nasty deer away. 2) surrender the deer and they would renew her tag. since we hunt for the meat anyway and horns don't eat very well we decided that it would be better to try and get another buck. We had plenty of pictures and it's not like it was trophy class. It was a cool looking buck though.

So we hit the field again with new tag in hand. After hours of glassing we spotted a legal buck about 1500 yards away bedded in some sunflowers. We put a stock on it and got to 189 yards and wifey made a great shot. we got it all on film and we are both jazzed. It is a great little buck with some wicked cool eyebrows.

Two deer in one day and it was all on the up and up. She will NEVER forget this season and neither will I. It was a blast.

The first picture is of the buck that we gave to WDFW officer. The second is the one we kept.

Could have done without seeing the worms :puke: .... :chuckle:
Its probably a good thing you dropped that first deer it doesnt look like it would make it through the winter.
Congrats to your wife. You guys are persistent!! The eye brows on that thing are something else
