Help me pick out some arrows
« on: August 10, 2015, 11:35:17 AM »
I picked up a Bowtech RPM 360 this weekend and am in need of arrows.  I will be using this bow for hunting and 3d shoots.  I would like to keep the price under $150 dozen.  It seems like alot of the sizes are in the middle of a 340 and 400 spine.  I will be shooting the bow at 70lbs and 29" draw length.  Arrows will be about 27.5" long.  Any suggestions on good arrows?  I would also like to stay as close to 420 grains as possible.

Thanks

For cheap yet well spec'd Arrow check out Vital Impact from Sportsmans warehouse.  Available in all the popular spines.  Sportmans will cut and glue inserts while you wait.  $37.99/6 with nocks and inserts.  They are nice and straight and light in weight.  Serious high bang for the buck arrow

I do not have charts in front of me but gut says you will want 340 or 300 spine based on your draw weight and length.  One of the pros on here will probably know that right off the top of their head..

carbon express maxima hunter 8.9 gpi. Great arrow/slightly more spendy for 3D shoots but good overall arrow. If you look around you can good deals on them. But with 27.5 in length they will be short of your goal weight. If you draw is 29 why cut your arrows to 27.5? Wont that be right at your arrow rest?

27.5 is about 1/2" past the rest.  For whatever reason, I'm not a big fan of having arrows stick out past the rest very far.

I was thinking about going back to the Easton FMJ arrows.  Just wanted some different options of what you guys like.  I also like the Axis, but they too might fall a little shy of the 420 grain target weight.  I am also looking at the Gold Tip Kinetic Chaos, but those will exceed the $150 mark for a dozen.

They are a light arrow, so you should be right @ the 425ish range..

Mine are 30.626", with std factory nock and 100gn tip I am 400grn, 11.4%FOC.  125grn tip is 425grn and 13.6%FOC.  Can add Illum nock to the 125Grn and be @ 434Grn and 12.4%FOC.

I have the RPM 360 and use CE Blue Streaks and just got the Reds, which I've yet to try. Blues are performing well. Just started into a new set of a dozen. Once those are retired, broken, lost I have two dozen Reds.

29", 100gr, 360grains total and about 398 using a lighted nock.

I just picked up some of the hunter pros with the 300 spline for my RPM 360.  So far so good. I'm using a 125 grn broad head and have an arrow weight of 437 grains.

Gold tip hunters for years. Then I looked at victory brand arrows from sportsmans guide for $50 a dozen. Pretty hard to beat those prices. Victory pays gold tip to use their process to make arrows

Easton's Full metal jacket deep six, better accuracy and penetration than any arrows mentioned.  Youtube it.  Only complaint is the inserts sometimes it smashed in due to the reduced surface area inside the arrow.
