Having a late tag in my pocket is altering my judgment. Passing on three shooter bucks in two days.... What the hell am I doing.

Sounds like fun!  Are you in reprod, timber, or in something totally different?

They're just standing out in the wide open. The weather has got the deer all out of sorts.

I saw a lot of that yesterday.  I am a nasty weather blacktail hunter.  I didn't shoot a big buck, but did have the opportunity to screw up on a decent one.  About like the one in the picture.

Enjoy the adventure.  These days pass too quickly to unnecessarily end this year's hunt with a buck you're not happy with.  The best days are still coming.  Be confident, hunt hard.  (and if all else fails, take your picture with somebody else's buck and tell your friends you shot it!  :chuckle:)

I've been out four weekends archery hunting and shot a two point yesterday.  It's a decent two point, nothing special.  I have some great memories from the earlier hunts that I came home empty though.  I let a pretty nice one walk back during archery season, because I was after a bigger one I had seen that day.  I've had a half dozen four points within 60 yards of me and seen some real dandys.

More than an "OK" rack for our island.  Which island are you talking about?  Definitely a big deer, congrats to him.

Here's an island fork horn a guy hunting w/me got yesterday.  Huge body, OK rack.

111 lbs hanging weight / 1.33 / 1.33 = 197 lbs live
or 111 X 1.33 X 1.26 = 186 lbs live

So using those two equations to estimate live weight it is ~ a 185-195 lb blacktail.  Not bad.  I thought it was bigger than that.  I guess the older I get an the lazier I get the bigger they feel when I'm helping drag them out.
