Possesion Limits
« on: February 12, 2017, 07:23:14 PM »
My partner and I accidently put ourselves in a peculiar situation once this past season by forgetting our daily limits were already in the boat from Sat when we went out on Sun. After setting up on Sun morning in the dark, we discovered that our birds from the previous day were still in the boat. Frozen and stiff and obvious to anyone with half a brain that we didn't shoot them Sun but by the end of the days hunt on Sun, all our birds except for the last ones shot were frozen and stiff. We should have put them in a cooler at the motel but it never entered our minds Sat nite. After filling our bellies Sat evening and being darn tired from driving from the W side to the E side early Sat morning and hunting all day, we both looked forward to a good night's sleep in the motel room and hitting it again on Sun. Everything being covered w/snow with more on Sun helped hide the birds in the boat from us also.
Technically we were legal but not a situation I want to argue with a game warden.
Any else ever do this and if so, have you ever been checked in this situation?

I had two limits of pheasant in my truck once down in CA, my buddy was driving into town behind me.  We noticed the warden that had been harassing us all weekend was following.  Luckily, we beat her (and the other warden following in case we split up) around a corner when she got caught at a red light. I pulled over, quickly ran back to his truck with the birds, tossed them in, got to my truck as she came around the corner. I nonchalantly walked back to his truck like I needed to ask him a question.  She was a jerk!

Never had this happen, but have heard about guys running into issues that have hunted multiple days and getting dinged on possession limits.  You almost need a friend with a freezer or eat a bunch of it.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!
