A 12 Year Old And His 1st Deer
« on: October 25, 2016, 09:54:02 PM »
We had a spike run through the front of our property Sunday morning acting goofy. I ask my youngest son if he wanted to put a camera and the blind outback after church? We checked the camera yesterday after school and had the spike at 8pm Sunday and a big 3x3 at 6am Monday and does all day long. My 12 year old and I sat in the blind til dark with no action. My son see's the buck after school with 2 does. He calls me at 3pm to tell me. At this time, I'm in Bremerton and live in Eatonville. Bomb toward home grab my 8 year old at daycare and head for the house. 4:35 the 12 year old puts the hammer down on a beautiful mature 3x3 Blacktail. He was a little excited and the first shot hit high but dropped the buck. He kept his composure and put a 2nd shot right through his heart. After his misfire on a giant 3 point out in a clearcut on Friday that crushed us, this was a nice way to finish his season.

Great ending to a frustrating start. Last year my buddy and I were elk hunting at the coast. He pulled the trigger on a 5x5 and click. The firing pin hit as hard as on any other round but it did not go bang. He brushed it off and said "that elk was not meant to die by me." A much better reaction than I would have had. Again, great job kid.

The kid's got some luck with the bucks.  Deer whisperer.    Super nice mature buck.  Well done!
