Took some time away from missing head shots to shoot a few with the camera.  Lighting was rough, but got a few to add to the scrapbook.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

Birds were henn'ed up heavy this year. Had to spot and stalk all of them. We were able to scratch out a handful of birds. Good times.

I am pretty new to Turkey hunting and hunted Northeast WA where I had never been before. Got up there Friday mid day and checked out some public land I had found on some maps. It didn't look as good as it did on the maps but I did see some Turkeys around (mostly private land). I wasn't able to put any to bed in their roost and opening morning on Saturday resulted in not seeing any birds. I went up to some different public land and did some locator calling. Got a couple of Gobbles way down the mountain and they did not appear to sound like they were getting any closer. I worked my way to them calling and had a response almost every time I called. Once I got within a few hundred yards of where I thought they were they quit playing the game and I did not get any more responses. I snuck to where I thought they were (never did see them) and ended up finding them in some brush 50 yards away or so. I proceeded to sneak in on them and they kept working away from me. I eventually got a shot at about 40 yards and got him. Not my ideal way to hunt Turkeys but it got the job done.

Right on, folks. Thanks for sharing your successes!!!

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

the top bird was from NE Washington on the second day, he was had hens with him most of the day and he finally broke off and got spooky when he got to 55 yards so i gave it a try! 3.5 inch heavy shot 5s worked awesome. The bottom bird is from central washington and called him into 20 yards this afternoon!

Almost makes me ask the question that is taboo. Nice birds and great job finding then in the central zone!

First turkey hunt ever.  DIY in the Springdale area.  Called a flock of jakes into my decoys.  Got first at 15 yards.  Flock flew about 20 yards.  Got the "bigger" tom at 35 yards.  Not bad for a rookie using a 20 gauge with no choke.  I am totally hooked!  I know they are not gonna make any record books, but I am proud of them none the less!!!  Thanks for all the helpful tips I received reading thru other posts.  Can't wait for the fall season!

Wood Shed turkey! We went to a local Turkey seminar over this last weekend and relearned to pattern the turkeys. So we got down to the Wood Shed about 5:43 am. Not that we haven't patterned them but needed to step up our approach game. Our second Boss Tom was out smarting us. The Wood Shed sits right off the old wagon trail. The path they use daily. So here that come. We start counting as they walk by at 5'. Get to 14 and here comes Boss Tom. Line up on him and two hens in the background wait till they clear he gobbles twice I whistle neck goes up KABOOM!!!!!!! Second Big Boss Tom of the season. Me and daughter throw high fives and hugs! :IBCOOL:    20lb 9oz. 10" beard 3/4" spurs. Supper fun to get a hunt in with your daughter before work on a monday.

cool awesome turkey's.
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter
