Northeast gobbling report
« on: May 22, 2017, 03:13:21 PM »
I didn't realize that it had been so long since I visited Washington, but it's been 4 years ( http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,126394.msg1674903.html#msg1674903 ).  Dang time goes by fast.

We've had a good season here in Montana, but I don't want to call it.  The two highlights were my daughter's first turkey and my dad's first Merriam's during a visit here in MT when I decided on a last minute detour after he had already called it quits.

I'm  considering another late season hunt in Washington (same areas I visited before) and wondered how the birds were acting now.  I read the Mid May Report thread but was hoping for a gobbling report specific to the NE.

Many hens are setting, a lot of gobblers are wandering alone, some are still gobbling and some will still respond to calls. You just have to find the right bird.

Thanks for the info.  Sounds like typical late season hunting.

Don't recall photo posting being anything different here.  Does the img code not work?

It seemed to me that it started slowing down a 5-7 days early, but you can still find birds to work.
