Wtb barn wood
« on: December 22, 2017, 11:52:31 AM »
Looking for some reclaimed weathered barn wood boards preferably 5-7" wide and 1/2 - 3/4" thick. Need enough to cover about 100sq feet of wall. Popular trend at the moment and I'm having trouble finding some, will pay good $ if it's what I need. Thanks!

I might be interested as well if it doesn't fit the needs for the O.P.

If you donít find what youíre looking for, make your own. Iíve done a couple walls this way, using cedar fence boards. Make sure the boards are dried, as they will shrink up a little and cause gaps if they go up wet. Use a steel wool and vinegar mixture. Paint it on and let dry. Watch the magic happen.

I do a lot with reclaimed cedar fence boards, most are 3 1/2" wide and by the time you cut the rot off they are about 4' long, But they are free. I sold some cedar wood projects and bought a few handguns.

Yeah I finished my garage and did some accent walls in weathered cedar fence boards, turned out nice but I'm out of that stuff and was thinking some actual barn wood would look better in the house for what I have in mind.

Do any of you guys have some wood that would work for a project like this. My wife really wants this done and I was hoping to make her happy 😁

Thatís not much wood at all, I have one piece of cedar that could be cut down to work, but all but two ends are going to be fresh cut ends.

@CLARKTAR

Measure it and let me know the dimensions.

I'm doing a barn wood type pan and spice rack similar to the one clarkstar posted. There's lots of cool barn wood products out there nowadays. Here's my barn wood tile countertops I did this last spring when i remodeled my kitchen. Also Homedepot has some barn wood type woods that are pretty cool, thats what i'm using for my pan rack.

I bought a couple pieces at Loweís recently for a small project.  Itís nice looking and is not ridiculously expensive. May be a good way to go. It doesnít look like youíd need a lot.

I saw an old barn with a sign saying barn wood was for sale.  It was between La Conner and Mt Vernon off Hwy 20.
