Tent stove
« on: December 27, 2017, 05:18:59 PM »
Iím considering picking one of these up but probably through sportsmanís warehouse as its listed for $219.99. Anyone have experience with this stove? Any notable issues? Thanks!

For the same amount of money or a little more you could have a far superior Three dog stove.

http://fourdog.com

I have three dog and a four dog.
The three dog is more than enough for my 10 x12 wall tent.
The four dog heats our 10 x20 cook shack.
I own a cylinder stove same design you were looking at. The dog stoves are far superior in every way.
Here's my three dog.

Thanks for the pics and info on them. It appeared their 3 dogs are currently unavailable? Looking at the 4 dog after shipping and adding the spark arrestor and tax it comes out to $456. For me personally thatís a bit more than i would want to pay. I understand their high quality but I donít think I can justify that price point for only 5-10 days of use a yr.

A few years back a member that went by royalbull was building what looked to be a really nice stove. Might pm him and see if he is still building them. Let us know what, if anything comes of it.

Bought one of these this fall.  Haven't used it on a hunting trip yet, but after burning it in I can say that it is a sweet stove and well built.

The stove in this picture is 1 we bought for my brother in law. There is a pic of it sitting in the back of my truck with the tailgate down for when I had my Dayton muzzy permit. I have recommended Joes stoves to a lot of people and know a few from Huntwa that have bought them. If a person does a search on here they will get lots of info. Excellent stoves from a great guy for a great price!

Shop craigslist for a small wood stove.  If youíre not packing in, weight doesnít matter too much.  We use a heavier upland stove and it works great.  I would much rather have a higher quality stove with a little extra weight, then a thinner lightweight one.  Just my thoughts.

I have a couple buddies that have bought stoves from Joe. The quality and craftsmanship is pretty hard to beat with a mass production stove.

I'm considering this camp chef stove as well.  Any other reviews from hunt wa members would be great.  Can't beat the price.  One question, I see that the door doesn't have a gasket.  A guy could buy one And add it to it, right?  I would think it would help with burn times.
