I like the gut hook knife.  It unzips the hide like a zipper on a coat. 8)

May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

I always put the head downhill until I get the body cavity opened up. All the internal organs are up in the chest area. After I get em opened up, then I rotate the ass end down hill and let gravity do the rest. Reach up inside and cut the wind pipe and let it all run down hill. Avoids that mess.  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

x2
Since, I can gut any animal, unless they are gutshot, etc... then it is a battle of wills to keep my breakfast or lunch where it belongs in my stomach.. :o.  Blood and guts never bother me, but a kid can puke, and I am running.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

MJ,

Im guessing they found the elk dead on the side of the hill and tied the horns to keep it from sliding farther...but they could have tied the back legs just as easy...  Im affraid the stuff getting on him would be expected an barely worth trying to avoid for me...although in my mind Im always doing the job myself where I dont have help or a choice!

funny though!

yikes...  happened to me with my buck last year --the gagging while gutting.  Gut shot a nice muley near dark tracked / followed him till pitch black,  came back and found him a daylight.  Oh that was a bad smell... yakked a few times but that was nothing compared to the thought of losing him after hitting him.  Just for spite I think he lost a point on each side during the night.   :yike:

I would just be happy that I was wearing those gloves.  They really did him a lot of good.
