Hunting Video Reviews
«
on:
May 23, 2008, 03:55:07 PM »
I thought I would make a quick post to let the members know about the DVD reviews. On the right side of the page at the bottom of the links section is a link to the "Reviews" page. There are reviews of Elk, Bear and Predator videos so far with more coming. Most of the videos I own and I have rated them with a scale of 1 - 5 but to keep things simple I have also added "Own/Borrow/Rent" to help you interpret my suggestions. There are options available for members to rate the review and post their thoughts as well.

As I said before, "You are da MAN!"
I am so tired of picking up a video only to have it suck big time! Thanks for your efforts!

Billy - I see Woodwise put out a video. What do you think of their bear call? I have always left it at home, because I wasn't too sold on it when listening to the enclosed CD, and I have never drawn a spring bear tag to try calling them during mating season.

I have thought about purchasing the vocalization call 3 springs in a row...then I realize that I don't have the time to learn it so I don't buy it. Maybe one of these days. I do know that Jerry Peterson has been around a long time and he can really replicate bear vocalizations.
To be honest I really don't know what to think about the call itself. I am sure it would work in the right situation if used by a skilled caller, but the scenarios over bait that they use are kind of odd to me. How do you know if the bear is coming to the call or the bait? If I was in an area with alot of bears, and visibility to measure reactions, I would probably try to learn those sounds. I guess since distress sounds have worked well for me I am also a bit reluctant to change.

Thanks, but remember these are my opinions...and they may
suck big time
to some.
So feel free to use the rating options.

PM me your address and I'll send you mine. I'll have to dig around for the instructional CD or tape. You get out after them way more than I do. If it works out for you, than you'll have to teach me.

You have been a busy man today!
I read your reviews at 6am this morning, only to come back and find more.
Your comment on Jack Brittingham is right on. I like the footage of his videos. I own a couple of them.
The one where he shoots the Bear in the bed is awesome. I love how the bear swings around like it was stung by a bee and just sits there, gets groggy and lays down.
There is another one where the guy shoots the Brownie and it runs right at him at the shot and turns last second.
I think I own a couple Primos Elk videos, a Realtree Monster Bucks, A few older Deer ones that came in a package, and Primos Spring Gobblers (Introducing B-Mobile), and the DVD that came with my B-Mobile.
I will dig them up and try and get a review for you to add if you don't already have them.
Thanks for all your work.

Thanks for your apreciation.
I have been busy today, but most of those were written up during the week. I just formated and posted them today.
Today I spent most of the morning cataloging my hunting videos. Didn't have as many as I thought (65 DVD's) but alot more then I need.

I do have over 200 dvd movies as well..
For years I refused to pay for cable (yea, channel 13) and we used to buy lots of movies. Now that we have cable (cancer) we don't watch many videos anymore.
