You need predators in the wild to pick off the week and sick that's mother natures way of keeping bad genes, traits, and diseases from being passed on.

You are right.  I spoke out of frustration about hunting managing the herds.  As hunters we rarely take the sick and injured.  So I feel some predation is necessary.  More than we used to have, but not as much as there is now.  And certainly not as much as the antis want.

100 in Montana. 93% in wash. I believe wash. was more challenging, although you only need 80 to hunt in Montana.

I'm glad to see hunters are taking these tests to protect themselves.

I have completed both the Montana training (required for a bear hunt in that state) and Washington's.  They are good exams and teach a lot of the little things new hunters need to look for.  I think Washington's should become mandatory.  Its free and it doesn't hurt to learn or if not incorporate it into Hunters Ed exam.

Just a reminder for everyone going spring bear hunting in the northern parts of Washington. Take a few moments and take the test.

100% on Washingtons test failed the first time on Montanas test which last year I got 100% not sure why. But seems something wrong with Montanas test for when I went to retake it it keeps picking the same ones I missed the first time through even if I change the answers?
But Washingtons I got 100%

100% MT. 81% WA (missed 3).  Each WA miss was identifying a black as a grizzly bear and all frontal shots.  Have to start looking more bears in the face.

The WDFW also has a series of videos on how to tell the sex of bears. Hubby had to watch it for his spring bear hunt but it would be good watching for any hunter .
