Upstate NY road kill
« on: January 13, 2012, 09:35:52 AM »
My dad just emailed me this pic from back east.
This buck was killed just down the road from my grandfather's house a few weeks ago. This would be in the Catskill Mountains about 40 miles south of Albany.

 :yeah:  Very nice buck.

I sense an organization from here has started doing to the NY herds what it has and is still currently being done to the elk/deer herds here.  Coincidence?  Maybe, but the leading member of an organization that instrumentated the demise here and then moved and all of a sudden deer start dropping in NY?  I wonder who's living in NY now that would cause such trophy animals to start being targets........................... :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Good point, I had not considered that angle but I bet you are right on point. Sad that he is making this a national epidemic.  :'(

Ssssh you don't know anything. Me living in the same state as this incident is just circumstantial evidence.  Here is a buck I will be chasing next year. The other pic is one my neighbor killed about 60yds behind my house.  There are some stud bucks in NY.

Had a boss in drum that put the word out that if you hit a deer to call him and get the roadkill tag from the trooper. He rescinded that statement 2 weeks later when his outdoor garage ran out of room to hang and store deer.  :chuckle:

We used to be "on call" to go pick up road kills. My good friend's dad is a big cat and predator expert and he had big cats and bears and stuff at his house. He'd feed the deer to the cats and bears.
This is him:

We'd butcher a lot of venison at his place between the road kills and the deer we killed hunting his place. All we needed was a trooper to give us the green light and we'd take all we could get for Andrew.
