« on: February 11, 2012, 02:27:18 AM »
i have a 2004 6.0 liter powerstroke. i bought the edge juice platinum for it the other day from a guy that ran it on his truck. it worked fine whenhe took it off but when i hook it up to my truck the scren wouldnt get power. the lights and everything in the truck work fine but it wont even turn over or purge injectors or anything? when i take the edge out my truck starts and runs fine. and ideas why its not working? anything is apreciated. thanks. :dunno: :dunno:

Sounds like the programmer was not set back to factory settings before given to you. Each programmer can only program one vehicle. :dunno:

The Edge should work from vehicle to vehicle without issues.  They are year specific, I would look into what year truck it came out of and cross reference it to make sure it will work in your year pickup.

Correct, but if you program vehicle 1 with it, you can't program vehicle 2 with it until you set vehicle 1 back to factory.

:yeah: that is correct you have to have the old vehicles data removed for it to be compatible with your pickup. And while you're at it make sure itmis the right year designation.

I could be wrong but doesnt the edge just modify the program when you change it, once its unplugged then your factory computer takes back over.  Whenever I have removed the edge in the past I have never had to reset to the factory program...  Its actually a controller right? and not a reprogrammer for say...

If it's going back into the same pickup it doesn't need to be reprogramed.

The edge is different from many of the other programers.... It does not have to be set back to a stock setting.  Its just plug and play.  No programing to do.

hit with a hammer
catch it. kill it. cook it. eat it.
Forget the bear spray, use wasp killer. Concentrated delivery stream, 10X the product, and only $3.00 on sale.

It's not just plug and play for most edge products. They are hard wired in. Where as say a super chip is a plug and play. You plug it in and go through the steps then it's balls to the wall, an edge is there when you want it. a smarty is also a plug and play, most plug and play programmers will only hold one vehicles data. That data has to be removed from the programmer before it will accept the data of another vehicle. To be honest I'm not sure if the edge platinum is a constant adjustable programmer or not.

I have friends that do lots of diesel work on the Fords and Dodges..... they don't know much about the Chevys.  Guess its because the don't have to, they rarely come in for work.

I kinda doubt he's spent the money to pull the cab of the truck off to do a pair of head gaskets and some head studs.
He will in due time.  :chuckle:

That's awesome. Now you can start making a few extra ponies without it blowing up. If you get real creative.....you will be able to hang with a dmax.
