Pretty cool.  I'll have to give it a listen... I've heard the show when i've been on the road on the dry side...

Field Report:

Why manufacturers are chambering rifles for pistol cartridges!
An interview John recorded with Dave Miller who owns Oak Grove Guns in Eugene, Oregon.  It focuses on the trend of chambering pistol cartridges into a rifle/carbine platform for hunting in pocket woodlands where you may not want your bullet to travel very far.

Just recorded a great interview with Dale Denny, owner of this forum and also the owner of Bear Paw Outfitters!  You'll be hearing the conversation, covering everything from bear hunting, to wolves to bow hunting tips for deer, within the next two weeks on the 32 stations carrying Northwestern Outdoors Radio!  Look for a station near you at www.northwesternoutdoors.com!

Craig -

Thanks for the kind words about the show.  I still remember the interview we did at the Bighorn Show.  The thing I remember most is thinking during the entire interview "Man, I really need to go catch some of those pike in the Pend Oreille River!!"

Hope life is treating you - and your business - well!

John

You are very kind.  And for the rest of you - "No", that was not a paid endorsement!

We've got a good show coming up this weekend with Outdoors Writer Ron Spomer talking about NW Chukar Hunting and Mike Slinkard with HECS LLC giving out some basic tips on getting closer to big game.  www.northwesternoutdoors.com

If you haven't heard us yet this weekend, Dale Denny, the man who brings you hunting-washington.com, is on our show this weekend talking cougar hunting!  We'll be posting the interview on our website this week at www.northwesternoutdoors.com.  Normally it would be here, but I've noticed Dale becomes shy when it comes to putting his own interviews up on the forum!

NEWS RELEASE:

NORTHWESTERN OUTDOORS RADIO TAKES HOME TOP NATIONAL HONORS

John Kruse, the host and producer of Northwestern Outdoors Radio, received three "Excellence in Craft" awards during the Outdoor Writer's Association of America annual conference held over Memorial Day weekend in McAllen, Texas.

Kruse received a first place award in the radio broadcast category for fishing with an interview he did with guide Bruce Warren in September about fishing the Columbia River Gorge for Chinook and coho salmon.

In the hunting category Northwestern Outdoors Radio received a second place award for a broadcast recorded during a field hunt for geese with guide Levi Meseberg in a field of plowed corn in Eastern Washington.

An additional second place award was received by Kruse for a humorous conservation themed interview he conducted with Janie Fink with Northwest Birds of Prey out of Northern Idaho highlighting everything the radio show host didn't know about great horned owls.

This is only the second year Northwestern Outdoors Radio entered this national competition featuring outdoor radio shows and podcasts from all over the United States.  Asked about the strong finish in three distinct categories, John Kruse replied, "We must be doing something right, and it's wonderful to get feedback saying so from not only our listeners, but also from the judges who are our peers in the outdoors media industry".

Northwestern Outdoors Radio is an hour-long weekend show that airs on 52 stations in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana.  The show covers not only fishing and hunting, but also wildlife watching, conservation, and a wide variety of outdoor recreational activities and destinations with a strong focus on the Northwestern United States.  Additional information about Northwestern Outdoors Radio is available at www.northwesternoutdoors.com

This weekend on the show we'll tell you about Tall Timber Ranch, a great place in Washington's Cascade Mountains to send your kids to Summer Camp! Once you do that you'll have time to fish for trout around Idaho's Sun Valley and author Mike McKenna will tell you about that! If paddling is more of your thing you can do that too in Central Oregon. That's why Laurel Brauns with Tumalo Creek Kayak & Canoe will be stopping by to tell you all about that! www.northwesternoutdoors.com
