Beings is how I'm obsessed with Blacktails, I figured I'd share a pic I stumbled across surfing the web for "big WA blacktails" :chuckle: No idea who killed it so I thought I'd cover the face. If It's you, or somebody you know, tell them congrats

Interesting... that land and that buck looks a lot like one I had a close encounter with last year.

Quick story:
Late buck so we decided to rattle; my buddy posted up about 100-yds from me (i was on a heavy trail with rubs) and rattled for about an hour. On and off. Finally, my buddy stops rattling and I figured we were done. I start to hear loud tromping thru the brush right towards me so take my rifle off my lap and sling it over my shoulder... thinking it was my buddy. Fog was low. Next thing you know I am 15 yards from a beautiful buck walking STRAIGHT at me. He was PISSED. I freeze; hoping he would put his head down or something... he didn't.  At about 10 yds he sees/smells me and bolts off into the fog. I pull up and didn't feel right about slinging lead his way. My heart was pounding to say the least.

Maybe someone else capitalized on my slow draw...

I can picture that story in my head perfectly, I can also still picture an encounter with a monster buck that was just out of range of the old 20 gauge. Thanks for the reminder.....  :'( lol
