Title: Flyer
Post by: Andrew on November 13, 2013, 11:05:18 PM
So I have had mixed luck with flyers, but I have a feeling that it is the type of flyer that I have.  I have the old school fixed wing all plastic version and 'had' a mojo (decided to fly away someplace on the way out to the blind) either of which I can't say have been stellar.  I'm looking at either a Knotty Duck or Assault Duck flyer, but am gun shy on the $140 price tag of the Knotty and skeptical of the Assult's urethane wings and pole setup.  Has anyone used either or have a recommendation?

The assault duck flyer requires wind to work.  When working it may blend in from above even though you can see the wings moving at your end.  Some of the others like Knotty Duck, Whiplash etc., have a black on top white on the bottom and are connected to a cord, so when you pull it, it is the black and white flash.  You can spot one or a spinner from a mile away.  It definitely can gain the birds attention.
Also due note that buying one of these, may make you look just like the next spread, so your $140 investment may not meet your expectations.  I would go for a knotty duck over the assault duck and maybe add a spinner or two if field hunting.  If your hunting ponds or flat water rig up multiple jerk cords.
