that is what we call the franklin fool hen over here. a bro of the big blue.
the pistol shot was one you had to see. the grouse flew off the trail and landed in some tall grass. I pulled my bino's up to see if I could find him.......there he is, nothing but head showing and he was a strong 90 yards out. I shot twice over his head and barely missed, the third got him in the neck......bang..flop, well, bang...bang...bang..flop. as it turns out he is one of the biggest ruffies I have yet taken. most I just breast and toss the rest, but this dud was in the pheasant size group
