I hope not, the last thing the families of those firefighters need is to read the name of their loved one on a website before they are notified. I know you're worried about your friend but lets hope the families are notified before the names are released to the media.....
Prayers for the families....

If you all know who your local legislators are call them, email them, and ask, "Why are the Type One teams not offering Red Card training" at camps like they used to??
Type two can also doing training at their camps BUT they are NOT doing it!!!
If WE could get some more "operators" Red Carded WE could get sitting equipment on the fires!!!!

That should be more than enough info until their names are released and we know the families have been notified. Please, let's show them that respect.
A very sad day. RIP to these heroes. God speed. Prayers sent to their families and work brothers and sister. May the rest stay safe and may it rain soon.

Seriously? Three firefighters gave the ultimate sacrifice today and you continue on with your rant. Show some respect and take your ajenda to a different thread.
RIP to the fallen

Please pray, the one flown to Harborview is a family friend. All of these firefighters deserve our prayers as do their families.

Prayers for the fallen and injured, and anyone who is working one these fires in our state or any other state.

TWISP, Wash. -- The Okanogan County Sheriff's Office confirms three firefighters have died and three to four more have suffered injuries as raging wildfires advance on the towns of Twisp and Winthrop in north-central Washington.
A Spokane Fire Department spokesman confirms the firefighters who died were with the U.S. Forest Service.
Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers said the injured firefighters suffered burns and were transported from the scene. One of the injured firefighters was being treated at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Harborview officials say the 25-year-old man was in critical condition with severe burns. The conditions of the other injured firefighters were unknown.
Gov. Jay Inslee in a release expressed his condolences, saying his heart breaks over the loss of life and that conditions remain extremely dangerous. Inslee will travel to the Chelan area Thursday to view firefighter efforts. He is expected to arrive at Pangborn Memorial Airport in East Wenatchee at 8 a.m. and head to the Chelan Falls incident command post at Chelan Falls Park.
Inslee is requesting a federal emergency declaration to provide more help to pay for fighting the many wildfires burning in Washington state.

Let's keep this discussion to a different thread, but to briefly respond politely... the last thing needed on the fireline is someone who sat through a quick class at fire camp and knows nothing about chain of command, fire suppression tactics, communication, ect... just cuz you can run equipment doesn't mean that you should be on the fire.

KREM news just reporting that there was some kind of vehicle accident involved, and the fire running them over. Sketchy. But said it was breaking news.

Until the first report comes out by the teams headed to the fire, let's not believe what the news says as it isn't always accurate.
Does this help you?
DNR said there were reports of burn victims around 4:30 p.m. Okanogan Co. Sheriff Frank Rogers said three to four firefighters were burned and transported from the scene. Rogers said the firefighters suffered "non-life threatening injuries."
Around 5:30 p.m., Rogers later confirmed that three firefighters had died. By 6:30 p.m., the coroner was on scene according to Rogers who said the three firefighters were engaged in the initial attack. Brian Schaeffer with the Spokane Fire Department later confirmed that the firefighters were with the U.S. Forest Service. The firefighters were engaged in initial attack operations and were involved in a vehicle accident when it is believed that the fire overtook the vehicle according to officials .

"Lord, we ask that you would comfort the families of the fallen tonight and protect the hundreds of men and women continuing to battle each blaze. We ask for cooling weather, rain, and still wind for the benefit of ending this terrible situation. Amen."

Not much to say other than thoughts and prayers to the families and friends of the fallen.
For those needing some inspiration or some solace, I'll offer up a song whose message seems particularly on point tonight:

Officials Confirm Three Firefighter Fatalities
Wenatchee, Wash.—Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest (OWNF) and Washington Department of Natural Resources (WA DNR) officials are deeply saddened to confirm the fatalities of three U.S. Forest Service firefighters from the OWNF this afternoon.
Next of kin notifications are being made.
“We are devastated by the tragic loss of three of our Forest Service firefighters,” said Mike Williams, Forest Supervisor on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. “We are working with County and State partners to notify the families of those lost. Our hearts and prayers go out to the families and fellow crewmembers of these brave firefighters.”
According to Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers, the three Forest Service deaths occurred in a wildfire on DNR land near Twisp, Washington. The firefighters were engaged in initial attack operations and were involved in a vehicle accident when it is believed that the fire overtook the vehicle.
We can also confirm that four additional firefighters were injured: one USFS, two DNR, and one DNR contractor.
The incidents occurred near an area where Okanogan County Emergency Management issued evacuation orders this afternoon including the towns of Twisp and Winthrop, Washington.
A national incident management team has been ordered. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
