Title: youth first deer hunt
Post by: cld40 on October 03, 2016, 06:33:11 AM
this is my childrens (12 and 14) first year to hunt for deer, we live in SW washington, wanting to hunt whitetail on the east side.

looking for any recommendations on areas, units, i am not familiar with the east side at all, but i would love for the kids to be able to use their binoculars and spot some deer and possibly get a shot.  i heard a good area around republic and crawfish lake but also heard that it was on fire and is not so good for this years hunt, looking for any deer really not buck or doe specifically, just a whitetail deer.
im not wanting a secret spot, but tips on units to focus on, I'm ok with driving across the state if that is what it takes.
feel free to pm me or whatever, i don't want anyones secret spot, i do not have a tag, this is just for the kids...

they are any deer units, was hoping to get to some feedback on these units, looking for something that would be fun for my children

cery few whitetail in those units and even less public land. You need to go farther east towards the blue mountains, Palouse, or up arournd Spokane/ colville.

:yeah: ne corner units hold a good amount of whitetails. There are some options for spot and stalk but best bet to kill a whitetail is stand hunting which could be tougher with kids and boredom.

How about the youth hunts
Units
145,149,154 1010
They are open for youth only 10/15-10/25 it looks like
I see free to hunt areas within those units
Are they worth checking out?
Thanks again for input or any advice
