hello,
we have a couple spots still open for our 2017 caribou season, these are drop camp hunts. these hunts take place in from aug 10-sept 5 north of the brooks range in alaska, you are allowed 2 caribou per person, success for these trips is very high and averages about 80 to 90 percent. the first trip is a cancellation hunt, and is being offered at $2000 per person with a $1000 deposit to book you spot, there is a 6 person maximum for the group, however we recommend no more than 4 people hunting out of one camp. there is also good potential to shoot wolves during this hunt, and some absolutely excellent fishing for arctic char and grayling. We also have a couple other spots available at regular price, $2500 per person we also offer drop camp moose hunts and black bear hunts over bait, our bear camp is in a fly in area and is very remote, we kill some very large bears and you can harvest 2 bears per person. For more information you can go to our website at chandalarlakewildernessadventures.com (http://chandalarlakewildernessadventures.com) Or call, text or email Ryan at ryanchandalarlake@gmail.com

For the caribou drop camps are they with your camp? Or does the group need to bring a camp? How long are the drop hunts?
-
I just shot you a text Ryan.
-
you can either bring your own or we will rent you camping gear, but for the people on this forum i have been telling them that we would provide the camp at no extra cost, the camp includes all cooking utensil pots pans stove tents and cots, you need your own sleeping bag personal hunting gear meat backs gun or bow and grocery's so long story short a camp is included in the price

Sounds pretty legit.
-
Is it a fly in camp?

we use airplane and airboats, the problem with just doing the fly in drops up there is that we get a lot of weather days where we are unable to fly. So rather than having everyone sitting around where they cant hunt waiting for the weather to clear, we just load up in the airboat and travel 60 to 70 miles up river and drop you along the river system, that way your trip is not wasted stuck in camp waiting to get flown out. its all the same country we land the plane along the gravel bars on the river and on a few remote strips,

-
OK guys, so as long as the license and tags are purchased before january 1 you can buy them at the regular price. starting january 1 they double, so if you book a trip and buy your gags now the license is $85 and the tags are $325 each for caribou and moose are $400 after january 1 the license will cost $160 and the caribou tag will be $650 and the moose $800

-
No, you can go solo if you want, its completely up to you.

Myself and ShaneVG are headed North to hunt AK using Ryan this year as well... Very excited about this opportunity and to get back up to AK! Goodluck to the rest of you guys as well andHopefully all your hunts go smooth! I am hoping this turns into an every year or other year trip!
How many of you guys are going up just for Caribou or Moose? Bummer that the AK commission dropped the limit to 1 caribou in the Brooks this year...
-
Waiting for soccer season(s)to end Bear, then back at it.

I would really enjoy one of these hunts someday when I can get away from my business more. Anxious to hear how you like the trip!

Hello,
The cancelation spot has been filled, but we do have some other spots available if anyone is interested.
-
Newb question here, but how much boned out meat do you generally see from an Alaskan moose or caribou?
Curtis
-
I've got about 600 pounds of meat off both my moose I took up there. That's boned out.
-
Yes, anywhere from 450lbs to 600 depending on the size of the bull and about 150 on a caribou give or take
-
Hey guys,
we still have a few spots available for 2017 caribou season, moose season is booked, we are now booking for 2018, aslo a few spot s available for black bear and sitka blacktail deer.
-
My old man has always wanted to do a caribou hunt but he has a replaced knee and doesn't get around well. He can do firm ground and rolling terrain but not steep or soft ground. You guys have any camps in areas like that? I think he is more interested in getting a caribou not getting into the record books.
Also what kind of camp do you guys set up? Is it a tent big enough he can get a sleeping cot into or is it sleeping on the ground. I would love to set something up for him and I and probably that ctwiggs guy would come along too lol but I know he won't be up for it if it is going to be too tough on him.
-
Hello,
yes i can put you in a spot that is not to soft and not to steep, the tents are big dome tents, with plenty of room for cots, if you want to give me a call feel free and we can go over more details, but im sure we can accommodate your dad.
