Not alot of teams compared to years in the past,or alot of dogs taken, but 73 is still a good amount
-
Nice job! I bet the snow made them easier to spot.
-
We saw a total of 25-30 yotes, but taking 500 yard to 1000 yard shots was next to impossible. Out team only shot one,of them. The team that won shot 12 i believe and shoot a female weighing in at 33#'s. Long fun night
-
Nice!
-
How many attended? I plan on next year, need to make arrangements to get over there early on friday. Were you hunting public or private land?
-
I think 43 teams, so 86 people. I drive and find them, most farmers or people where i hunt don't care if you shoot yotes here. There a nuisance to most
-
So technically you trespass with implied permission because you think that no one cares, you don't have actual permission to shoot on ALL the lands you see/shoot coyotes on. Is that what you are saying.
-
Nope,i know 95 percent of the people or bosses of the fields i hunt. And those i don't,if they see me they tell me where to go in the area to find more
-
I don't know how I missed this thread. I would've loved to have been a part of it. Next year for sure!

You know what assuming means? Making an ass out yourself

[Thanks,i didn't know how to respond to that and not get into an Internet tough guy competition

I didn't assume anything, I asked a question. You said that you drive and find them most farmers don't care if you shoot them. That is trespassing. If you would have said that you drive farms you have permission on I wouldn't have said a thing.
Knowing 95% of the people whose farms you shoot coyotes, still isn't having permission to hunt and the other 5% is still trespassing even if you get permission afterward.
Any newbie reading your post, would think it is perfectly acceptable to drive around that country and shoot any coyote they see, WRONG.
In the past there have been a lot of complaints about houses and yards getting spotlighted during the Warden hunt and folks not respecting private property during the Warden hunt, it used to be crazy place to be during the hunt. I won't even go over there during the hunt.
I hunt that country from Lind to Ellensburg and the Tricities to US-2 for weeks at a time, you have no idea of the number of trucks I've seen driving the roads and blasting any coyote they see out the window regardless if they have permission.
If you feel you've been wronged and all your hunting practices are above board, I sincerely apologize.
-
I don't feel "wronged" just tired of people reading too much into my post and other posts on here. It gets old,not that i have to, explain myself about how our what i do. If a "newbie" reads into this and thinks illegal hunting is the correct thing to do,than he or she should re read their book. I get on here to chit chat with people about something i enjoy doing, and to help others out because I've never had it until I've communicated with others on here.

I'm sorry, but I read it the exact same way AWS did. :dunno:

If that's how you guys read this, then you are ignorant. A couple buddies and I know most farmers in our area that we hunt. I would've worded it almost the same way. You do that kind of thing when your a local to a specific area. If somebody sees this on the forum and thinks it's okay then they shouldn't be hunting in Washington state. Not all states have trespass laws like Washington. There are several where it is okay to drive around and smoke coyotes without permission at all. AWS in positioning his sarcastic post was not a question in my opinion but an assumption. Something that is pretty common on this site which inhibits other from posting their photos and hunting stories (which is one of the only reasons I visit this site). So keep doing what your doing and folks will post less and less.

Eastsidemallard74, Thank you for posting, was wondering how it turned out...I appreciated the info!
-
Does anyone at these competitions call them or just drive around amped up on Red Bull and booze? Not knocking that but just curious.
-
Actually alot of guy's call the dogs in. We get amped on red bulls, actually monsters, and try to find them at night,or at least until 2/3 am than head home get a few hours sleep and head back out. The bad thing about the night hunting is the amount of deer out,we saw at least 100 deer, and a fair amount of those were NICE bucks. The next day we saw over 200 more deer. And I'm underestimating numbers. It got to a point to where we were,oh look surprise, more deer
-
IMO, If you are a caller it is a good weekend to stay home.

:yeah: I agree I have hunted around farms and ranches my whole life and would have also worded it the same way. The way I read it is I know the 95% I can hunt on and more importantly know the 5% I don't have permission on and I don't shoot on the 5% until I get permission. Thanks for posting eastside I would like to get into this next year looks like fun.
