Appears to be repeat offenders.

Two year investigation, and the largest poaching case of its kind and the penalty is what??? :yike: :yike: :yike:
Up to 1 year in prison and up to 3k in fines :bash:

Wow, I am shocked that the one guy had never been in trouble before and the other only a couple of times. With that many traps and how old they were I would have to think they have been doing this for a very long time. I guess they could have just ramped up their activities when they retired.
Man that is a lot of traps.

2 year investigation.... sounds like fish and game job security to take that long... just sayin

Mostly snares and with two guys I can see it being doable but you would have to be a go getter with a 24 hour check.
The thing that seems off is what they confiscated from these guys amounted to not much. I think they need some lessons on location.

They could have had an off day and were selling in the round and that was all they had in possession.

I would bet good money it wasn't a 24/7/365 investigation for 2 years.
In WA prosecutors have two years to file charges on gross misdemeanor charges. An LEO could contact someone poaching a deer today and not send the report in till March 2019, is that a 2 year investigation?
