Title: Klickitat gobbler
Post by: 270Shooter on April 25, 2017, 09:42:26 PM
Called this nice 2 year old into within 15 yards in an open meadow while laying prone before giving him the axe. I'd been hiking a mile or so from the truck and this one lit up about 200 yards from it on my way back for lunch. 11 to noon seems to be the magic hour for me. Got pretty lucky but I'll take it. He had an 8 inch beard and worn down 1/2" spurs.

yeah you're right, very calm day. Couldn't ask for better turkey hunting weather!

Beautiful Merriams!  Perfect tail.   I have to ask, while hunting, did you wear that blue hat?  I've heard, many times, to never wear red or blue while turkey hunting because the gobbler's head is those colors and another hunter might make an mistake.    Congratulations, either way.

yeah I was wearing it. I've heard that too and I didn't even think about it when I grabbed it. I was hunting private land that no one else had access to though.

Wow! Now I know why I am not killing goblers. I am not out there shooting at everything red or blue.  :bash:  now I know.
