Title: Lost wedding ring in bumping unit
Post by: Barbarossa13 on November 04, 2017, 08:28:53 PM
My old man and I were tearing down elk camp up the bumping river road in about 3 inches of snow.  When we went to get into our trucks he got this shocked look on his face and said he lost his wedding ring.  After an hour of kicking snow he said screw it.  Still hoping it’s wrapped up in the tent, but if anyone reads this and is planning on early camping next spring up there I’ll pm some details as to where we were, close to the dam/lake. I know it’s a long shot, but trying to help my pops.  Thanks for your time.

You need a metal detector.  I have one and would be happy to help lend it or help you out if it means finding your old mans ring.

Lost mine on my honeymoon (the first one, should have taken the cosmic hint....     ) in Alaska on a Caribou hunt.  At least I got to hunt Caribou.   :chuckle:

Lol he’s lucky I was there to back him up so we could convince mom!  Thanks for all the replies, we’re hanging up the tent today so hopefully it comes rolling out.

Hung up the tent during that dumpster fire of a Seahawks game and no ring came spilling out.  Still hoping he finds it in his hunting gear when he unpacks.

My pops set his ring on a fence post to gut a deer. Forgot to put it back on and realized after he got home. Went back down the next weekend... no dice. We used to look every year during deer season for that thing. He finally gave up. 15 years later my uncle finds it in the road a couple hundred yards from that fence post. Good luck!

Found it!
While the recovery story is nowhere near as impressive as KopperBucks’(amazing story btw!), I just wanted to say thanks to you all for the concerns, well wishes, and pm’s offering to go look for it.  After hanging up the tent, going through all his clothes and sleeping bag, he decided to unroll his air mattress.  Low and behold, it was wrapped up tight!  Told him to fatten up or get a smaller ring.  Thanks again everyone!

I have heard of guys taking their ring off and setting it down and then wandering off only to find a crow fly off with their ring, I don't think it's a common thing but I have heard it a couple times!! My cousin lost his while we were fishing, he took it off at the hotel because the wheel bearings went south on the trailer and he just forgot to put it back on, we get half way home, he realizes it and we go back, no ring to be found , questioned the cleaning lady, she finally walks over to her car and gets it out of her ashtray  :bash: theiving arse women !!

Good going Barbarossa13, persistence paid off!
After cleaning a Humpy (Pink Salmon) on the Green River in Kent, I shook more than the "fish slim" off my hand and into 3 feet of water, (about 8 foot from the bank.)
I could see the gold sparkling on the bottom where I stood on shore in my tennis shoes. So I took the risk of loosing sight of the wedding ring in the ripples and ran back to the truck and got my waders on.
It took a couple of delicate long armed reaches under the cold water before I finally struck gold along with a cold sweat.
My next step would have been heading for the nearest Metal Detector Store before I tucked tail and headed home to the little Missus. But like I say persistence again paid off! (Needless to say from now on, I put my wedding ring into my wallet before I clean any fish.)

Great news.  A couple years after we were married I was loading my boat and my hands got wet.  Low and behold my ring slipped off and rolled down the very steep boat ramp to my horror.  Luckily, when it hit the water it slowed it down enough where I was able to run down and retrieve it.
