Any reports? Can anyone tell me what is the best water level?
-
I always liked the 2500-3000 cu ft flow or about 4 ft.
But the best level is usually low half of the rise or drop in my opinion.

The Hoh fishes really good at about 2000 cfs. At 3000 it is really ripping and a lot of color. Not good unless you were plunking.

Thx. Haven't fished it in 20 years.

Of course everyone wants perfect conditions. That's part of the problem these days. Since there's so little else open, and the level info is instantly available, everyone and their brother with a steelhead itch will hit the river when it nears "perfect". Can't blame them; it is what our steelhead fishery has evolved to.
I guess what I'm saying is don't expect it to be like what it was 20 years ago.
I wouldn't necessarily wait for 2000cfs. You can fish it around/under 3 if you're a bit selective on your spots. A lot of the color comes from the claybanks -not the glacier- so consider going higher.
Good luck when you go. Not much better than steehead fishin'.
