Hi All,
Longrifles inc is having a group buy (Saw it on Snipers Hide).
$25 for bolt fluting. They do charge now for return shipping ($10.50)

I sent my Rem 700 bolt in, and it was back in 1 week (door to door). Note: some are complaining about 2 weeks, so I don't know how/if they prioritize things.
If you do order, ignore the paypal (you can do it later). Go to checkout, discount code "NEW HAAS".

Thx ! Looks like I may have to dress up one or two.....

I did the pattern "A", High helix. Std helix doesn't have as tight a twist

How much weight did you save (or maybe it's just for show)?
-
Just for looks. Weight savings is minimal on bolt fluting

Hey it's a great mod if you're into cutting the handles off your toothbrush in the backcountry.

Pulling your teeth would save more weight :o
-
My rifle weighs over 11# (plus scope). I feel pretty good about the 1/2 oz I saved. :chuckle:
I just like the look :IBCOOL:
EDIT: just did the weight calculator he has, and it looks like I saved 1 3/4 oz total. I can carry 1 extra bullet now
-
I'd like to do the bolt on my 12+ pound rifle too, just because it looks cool.
:dunno:

:yeah:
Fluted bolts look much cooler than nonfluted. That alone is worth the price to many. And is good enough reason to do it.
-
I liked fluted bolts. Never did it over weight concerns. I have it done because it looks good. I send my actions off to Kampfeld Custom. I have him TI flute the bolt, install a "Hunter" bolt knob and open my base holes to 8/40.

They do look kind of sexy

Sent two bolts off last Friday. 60 bucks to have them do my tikka and Remington. I have been hearing the wait time is a little longer now but I’m sure they are getting swamped with bolts. Still an awesome deal!

And I bet Karl nearly has them back to you before the ink dries on the check, too.
I've had Karl do quite a few Rem 700 actions and bolts, as well. Not only is he a really good guy that does great work, but his turn around time is crazy fast.

I send them, they are back super quick and he sends a note with them on what the total cost is. Great guy!

Great deal had to do it!

Thank you for posting the link. Mine is outbound tomorrow.
-
I just don't know if I can go with out my bolts for a week or 2. I'd have to resort to pistols to get my fix of boom. Suppose I could do one at a time
-
It's weird how some companies say that you can't flute a claw extractor bolt.
-
Mine came in today. Very happy.

Just the opposite of mine
Yours: left Rem helical, Right Tikka High Helical
-
How do you go about getting that done for 25? When I went to the link posted it says 65
-
Enter the discount code at checkout I believe.
The code is on the bottom of the original post. I haven't tried it yet, though i am going to send a couple bolts off to get worked over
-
Shipped mine Friday, got a receipt email from them today and the bolt is already being processed. Awesome service, wish this wasn't my only bolt gun.

I missed that! :bash: thank you

Anyone know if they can do a Ruger American bolt? Emailed them about a week ago with no response...
-
Sounds like they are moving along at a pretty good pace. Mine is already in the mail headed back home. 1 day turnaround is great service.

They are probably very busy. Maybe give them a call. They don’t have ruger American listed but never know.

Can't ask for anything faster than that...wow. I have a bolt on the way scheduled to arrive Thursday. Screaming deal.
-
Whats the difference between Pattern A and B high helix? Apparently I don't know what I'm looking at.
Any idea how long the deal lasts?
-
Just got home and trigger safety check complete after spring swap. LRI did an awesome job.

Which one is that? Hi helix? Looks great!
-
Wrought Iron, high helix has a little more thickness to the flats between the turns.
-
Love that wrought iron look nwhunter84. My tikka bolt is waiting its turn there right now for that design as well. What a great deal!

Its the style of cutter used. Pattern A the flutes are less sharp ( on the edges) than B
-
Thank you. dropping mine in the mail tomorrow for a wrought iron fluteing job!
-
That looks great NW Hunter!
Now you got me thinking about sending in my superlite bolt, does the bolt still cycle as smooth as before the flutes or did that rough it up a bit?
Thanks for sharing!
-
I feel like it cycles slightly smoother, but not much. I really like how it feels, ran some snap cap cycles through it tonight and it feels smooth and tight. Super happy with the work.
-
Thanks!

Got my bolt back yesterday. 10 days from the day I sent it in. Incredibly fast turn around and excellent work. Extremely satisfied!
-
Got mine back last Friday,9 days after being mailed. Very satisfied. Anyone know how long they are doing that group buy code? Should do a few more for that price.
-
Got mine back in about a week, beautiful job, finishing touch on the Swede build!
-
Paid to have a couple of mine done. Going to mail them off tomorrow. Went with the wrought iron style.
-
Looks like they don't do Savage?

I recently purchased a pre owned Rem 700 with some minor blemishes on the bolt but otherwise in very good shape. I've attempted to remedy the issue but without really getting aggressive with sanding, and messing up the factory finish pattern, it's not working so I'm going to have the bolt fluted, skeletonized and bead blasted.
Are those of you that sent your bolts to LRI happy with their work?

Send it to Kampfeld custom. Stand up guy. Perfection when it comes to metal work. Some may want to keep them in mind for custom builds. Superior work for allot less than some so called "Premium builders". Premium builder. Ha! Cracks me up! $6K for a 12hr spin up is a joke.

I agree. Kampfeld custom for the fluting. Maybe you could get it jeweled too? Just a thought.

I sent in 3 bolts and yes happy, no complaints. I had some blemishes, and the machining took out some of those blemishes on one bolt. It definitely made it look a little cleaner.

They did an excellent job on mine!

For the $30 it cost to do my wrought iron flute on my tikka at LRI I am very satisfied but my son had his 700 sendero bolt fluted, skeletonized & Target bolt knob cerakoted to match the barrel by kampfield & it is super cool. Depends on your budget I guess?🤷♂️
-
I've sent LRI three and they've done good work.
-
I've had Karl blueprint and bolt flute quite a few Rem 700 actions for me now, he does excellent work. Karl is just a little ways up out of Sandpoint Id. so he's relatively local for me. I've been to his place and met him in person multiple times, he's a he11 of a nice guy, has a very nice shop and equipment right there next to his house.
These are the two most recent Rem 700's Karl did for me.
Sounds like LRI does a nice job too.
-
Another vote for Kampfeld. Had him blueprint my last 700 build , along with flute the bolt , lighten the bolt handle and install a Badger knob. Couldn't be happier.

I live close enough to Karl that shipping usually only takes a day and if I drop a bolt in the mail on Monday, I'll generally have it back by Friday or Monday of the following week.
A couple years ago I dropped a bolt and a Rem 700 action off at Karl's place for him to flute the bolt on the one and blueprint and flute the bolt for that action. Since it was close to where Karl lives I spent a couple days up at our place at Schweitzer then went home. When I got home a couple days later, the items had just arrived and were in my mailbox.

Just added mine to that thread as well.

Thought I’d add my pics to the thread for anyone that was considering LRI. Before, during and after.
-
That looks nice, thanks for resurrecting the thread. Did they do the finish also for you?
-
Like the skeletonizing too !!!
