Wasn't sure if the pic was gonna go through so here's the story.  Got my boy his buck last weekend on the opener, so after a looong week at work I was out Saturday morning hunting a clearcut that i had seen a lot of sign in and some big track.  I only saw 15 does Saturday morning and wasn't sure if I would ever find the kinda buck I was looking for.  I talked to a buddy Saturday and he said that his daughter shot a nice buck Saturday morning that was chasing does, so Sunday when I got up I decided to head back to where I had seen all the does the day before hoping a big buck would be with them.  As daylight broke I was heading down a burmed up skid road and was noticing a lot of fresh tracks in the road and two rubs along the road that weren't there the day before.  Looking promising.  About a half mile in I see a doe feeding along the road.  She put her head back down, so I moved quickly to where she couldn't see me and moved closer.  At 20 yards I ran out of cover, so I decided to step out and see what happened.  As soon as she saw me she snorted and took off down the steep clearcut.  I ran over to the edge and there were deer standing in every direction.  As I was scanning the area I hear a deer take off to my left and all I could see was rack.  He took two big jumps and started trotting down the hill.  I threw up the gun found his shoulder and fired.  A few seconds later he was down.  I had to idea how big he really was but was pleasantly surprised when I walked up to him.  He is a 4x5 with kinda a split main beam on the left antler.  He was pretty stinky and had a really swollen neck so all you guys that still have tags, this should be a good week.

I will, thanks, he is funny next year he said he is not shooting first.  My wife said he was up and ready in about three minutes when she told him i shot a good one.  He is getting pickier every year.  Good fun with the kids though. :)

Dandy. I shot a doe, my first deer, in that unit years ago. Saw tons of deer, no bucks, but only hunted for a couple hours.

I'm used to looking at mule deer bucks......but as far as I can tell, that is one dandy black tail.  Will make a nice looking mount.

Really nice buck, the Wind River unit is some pretty steep, rough country but we've had some friends that did very well there.

 Nice work.

Took my wife into the same area I shot my buck yesterday morning and there was an absolute giant blacktail witht the same group of does that were with my buck.  this thing made mine look small.  He stood there for a few minutes, but my wife was having a hard time getting on him.  The does eventually trotted off with him in tow.  He was honestly one of the biggest blacktails I have ever seen.  Good luck to the late buck tag holders in the Wind River unit there is atleast one giant buck out there. ;)
