Does anyone know how many bears were taken out of Kapowsin during the spring hunt? I didnt see anything except some sign
-
I think the rumour was 7.. :dunno:
-
Thats about what they avg each year isnt it? I kinda thought there would be bear running around everywhere since they gave out 100 tags!!!! I see more sign up north right outside of town then I did in almost two weeks of hunting there
-
As I understand it, that is low...
usually 10+, but I don't know, I haven't hunted there since it was Champion....
-
I saw a lot of deer and elk but almost no bear sign! It was cool seeing all the other animals though
-
It was 8 and the lady i talked to at hancock said it was 2 more then last year.
-
2009 game harvest report says 12, 2008 is not available :dunno: 2007, 5,
2006 only 2, 2005 was 5 again........
that is pretty slim odds 6/100 average
-
Man thats not very many, i'll just take my chances with Monroe unit or North Skagit next year they both are a whole lot closer and i dont think they can get any worse than Kapowsin!
-
That is still within the 5-15% success rate that F&W likes to see.
-
dang, i figured there would be alot more than 7
-
Isnt that 5-15% kinda low for big game in washington? arent most deer units closer to 20-25%?
-
Bio's have told me that 5-15 percent is what they want for spring bears. Any more or any less could change the amount of permits.

I believe there were 150 permits for Kapowsin

Yup for 2010 it was 150 permits. They reduced the amount for 2011 to 100 tags, the 2011 spring season are the permits that are listed in the current big game regs.

check my post on bear hunting in the Kapowsin, it should be hard to get one in the general season
-
Well I wish I wouldve seen your post about three months ago!!!!!! Is that area even on the main kapowsin tree farm?
-
sorry I didnt post anything sooner, been busy at work and just recently visited the area and again saw how bad it is, yes it is in the main kapowsin tree farm, about as far South as you can go, still within the tree farm but on DNR land, but you can hunt on our ground
