What time of season is best for shooting coyotes in this state? Back home in Montana its the dead of winter cause that's when the snow gets to deep in the mountians they come down lower. Just don't know about washington

Whenever they are in range. :chuckle:

It depends on what you are killing them for. If you want pelts then Dec-March. If you want to save fawns then Spring and Summer are good. Pups are dumb all summer and fall until they get educated. But all times of year will produce.
-
id say now cause the pups are just starting to be on their own, pups are kinda dumb but really i havent found one time of year to be a whole lot better than any other except summer, i hate the heat. but if you are looking for quality pelts january is best for that.
thats just my thoughs there are a lot of guys on here that know yotes better than me and im sure they will chime in

Year round! I would say winter would be better for pelts but pelt arent worth crap anymore so shoot em all year round!!!
Winter- snow and they are hungry
Spring- mating
Summer- Less pressure dogs are a bit bolder and less skiddish
Fall- dumb pups/yearlings everywhere
Looks like a good reason every season!!!!

Spring- mating
I always thought breeding season for coyotes was in the winter ???
-
I also believe breeding season is late winter. We usually hunted them hardest when the cattle were calving. When ever the opportunity knocks the hammer drops.
-
Any time you can kill one is the best time

Thanks guys.

You guys mentioned pups everywhere , I have only killed one pup so far . Over 30 down for this season , I started calling in sept on the 25th or so ( had to film a hunt for the outdoor channel) since then i have not called in any other YOY .

Jerry, Quit using that call that sounds like a 60 lb jackrabbit, you're scaring them. :chuckle:

Its been a weird year for me , I thought i was going to be calling in alot of pups in sept when we went on that 4 day hunt .
I was really dreading the fact of calling in pups so when it didnt happen i was very happy .
All summer long i was seeing many YOY running around and could hear the vocalizations in the evenings.
It has me wondering what happened to the lil buggers .
Maybe the mountain lion vocals really DONT work on coyotes after all .
