Title: MT Gopher-O-Rama
Post by: pacyew on June 15, 2007, 08:32:05 AM
Just back from a great MT gopher trip. Good friends and family, 20 square miles of beautiful property to hunt on, gracious hosts - and gophers too!

What a surprise! A "green" Northern Montana landscape! It's been the wettest Spring there in many of years and farmers are smiling. ;D

We were out in the gopher fields Sunday evening, Monday, Tuesday and a little of Wednesday morning before making out our way back West. Our gopher arsenal included a range of old Winchester lever actions, from 25wcf to 45-90! Lots of fun. My 400 rds. of 22 Hornet for my Cooper rifle only lasted a day and a half!

Some images:
1) Long time outdoor compadre John with his "2'fer". Two with one shot from his '92 Winchester 32-20, 11 grs. of H110 and a 100 gr. Speer XTP. I happened to be watching the gophers with my bino's at the time.

2)We spend a few hours shooting at our gong. Yes, that is a big handgun!

What a fantastic looking trip. John's beard looks like it might be growing out a little. Does he fluff it up just for the photos? I wish I could have made it  :bash: That country is beautiful.  :)

If you shot up all your cooper ammo then it must be time for reloadin'. You burned that up pretty damn quick.

John's two with one shot sounds cool as heck  8)
