My helim broke!!!
« on: June 24, 2012, 03:30:14 AM »
I got my new Mathews Helim a couple months ago and have been having a hard time getting it to shoot how i would like.  The other day one of the guys i was shooting with ask me after i shot if something  was broke on my bow or lose? I thought it was my rest slapping my riser. NOPE!!!!!! :bash: :bash: My lower cam was broke. The bolt that holds the cam together was broke and I'm not real sure how it was still holding together.  The bow shop i was at said its the 3rd on this month that they have heard of! I hope i get it back before the Rinheart shoot next weekend!!!

The one I shot had sp much cam lean that I'm sure it will fall to the same problem for it's eventual owner.

That what a company gets for trying to cut too many corners at the same time. Im a die hard mathews fan. However, when I first shot the Helim I couldnt believe how much felt recoil there was compared to the Z7 Extreme. IMO that was a dead giveaway that something wasnt right. Seems like they were so 100% focused on dropping a little weight here and there, that they forgot to do sufficeint product testing before release.

:yeah: less weight at some point is going to equal less strength and durability.

I guess Hoyt is cool...if you want to pay twice as much for their flagship!

you don't always have to pay retail for a bow. I got mine off ebay for probably $300 off the new retail price.

i think any one of hoyts vector series are better shooting bows than the Matthews for the same price.   If you're going to get into a carbon element you will be spending a few more bucks.

Sorry to hear about the problem. I have to say I have always shot PSE and love the bows and service. I have a new Dream Season EVO and can't believe how it shoots. You might take a look at them. I have thought the Bear bows look real nice but seam expensive.

Good luck with your bow if you decide to keep it.

I also agree that cutting weight is going to lead to problems but i figured Mathews had it under controll. Now my question is..... Do you think it compromised my bow in any way? Limbs, stings, or what ever else? I'm thinking of telling them that I'm really not happy with the outcome and getting my money back. I still wont buy a Hoyt but the vector bows are ok. Maybe a bowtech is in my future.... :dunno:  Whats your guys thought about the quality after after this?

The bow will probably be fine after its fixed but it sounds like you have lost confidence in it. If that's the case get rid of it. It will never shoot right if you lost your confidence in it. :twocents:

:yeah:
Maybe see if they will take in trade for a Z7 or extreme, little heavier but also beefier.  Still an easy pull and no shock in the hand when you let the arrow fly.  I love my extreme.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.
