I was out scouting for bear in early April in the Dayton unit where I had a spring bear permit. I got in quite a hike. 6 mile round trip with me dropping off on one ridge at 3500' elevation to the canyon bottom at 2900' and then up the other side to 4100' before dropping back down into the bottom and back up to my truck. I did not see any bears but I did find a big 7 point elk shed when I was getting close to the bottom for the second time. I picked it up and marveled at its mass. I started down the hill and then thought I should look around for the other antler. It took only 2 or 3 minutes and I found it only about 15 yards away. I was stoked but then realized I had quite a pack job to get them out of there. I did it anyway as they are the first matched set I have ever found and they are mighty big and very symmetrical. They weighed about 30#. They were measured by an official state measurer at 401 1/8 gross and 388 6/8 net assuming a 40" inside spread credit. Those are awesome sheds. I have not been lucky enough yet to find a matched set. 1 day. nice job on packing them babies out.....
