140 inch moose pictures
« on: August 13, 2008, 09:54:04 PM »
For all of you guys with moose tags this year, I am posting some photos I pulled off the internet 3 years ago when I had an Idaho tag. Look at the file name to see the score. The scores listed are scores that were posted by the hunters along with their pictures.

I think it is that new cloaking camo that was on the news last week.

How did bull number two do so well?

Great pics, the more pics I am seeing the more I have burned in my mind what I will be looking for, only 7 more weeks till one steps out in front of me.  ;)

If they were all within range I would take aim at #6, I know he doesn't have split brows but I love the way his symmetry is.

#8 is my choice, there is a pretty wide variation in antler configs for sure.

Some people are a little more honest in scoring than others.  :)
Great thread Timber.  Describes perfectly what I was trying to get across the other day about all of the bulls being in that range and looking completly different, and its what makes you happy when you pull that trigger.

I'll second that cuz there are some bulls on that thread I would rather not look at for the rest of my life, lol.

I don't know how #2 got 142" out of that.  Looks like the spread is 45" and the palm length and width are relly short.  He has a few points and from brow palms that split so that's good.  I would question that score.  I can't get that bull over 130" even with modest estimates...

The one that stuck out to me is the one with the biggest palms in terms of width and length.  That was the second from the last that scored 148".  Although I got to agree with a bunch of you about the big long points.  They are impressive and my bull has a bunch of those.  That's one thing I was scared of when I first saw my bull was all the points and I remembered people telling me if you see lots of long points it's usually a younger bull that won't score well.  I guess there are a few exceptions.  That last bull looks nice with the long points.

The type of moose rack that I like are the ones with at least 3 long brow points  with the ouside brow dipping down lower than the inside, and the next point , usually the longest past the brow sweeping out and up kind of like a big bull elk with long thirds. And tapering down after that.About 15 points per side. A good nice wide long palm, around 55 wide. You know a Shiras that scores around 200 ;) :chuckle:
