Find a lake up on a ridge somewhere, there should be plenty to choose from, sounds like a good cast and blast trip.

My partner fell off the wagon. Well our timing didn't match up this season. So I will be hunting solo in ALW most likely after the 15th.

Im thinking about trying out a high buck hunt this year as well because I want to get away from all the other hunters. I have never tried a high hunt but for you that have I was wondering if there is a lot of pressure at the high elevetions. I heard you guys talking about the Alpine unit but what about the other high buck hunts...like the Cascade, Diablo, or Stillaguamish units? Are any of these good places to get up high and get away from the crowds?

Ok thanks. Im not a rifle hunter though...just a beginning bowhunter interested in backpacking up high to get a chance at a big buck with little competition. Where exactly are the other wilderness areas located...I mean what GMU's specifically? Has anyone hunted up in those high areas with a bow?

People are probably hunting them with bows right now and if I recall the muzzleloader high buck is at the same time. The general outline of the wilderness areas is kind of a thing you can do with a state map or atlas of some kind.  Take the list above and a map and connect the dots  8) Some of the places you mentioned will be part of the wildnerness designation. I think the Stilly would have good critters but a lot of the terrain on the west side down low is terrain that is heavily vegetated and harder to look across valleys and across distances.
