Trying to get my first Elk
« on: September 28, 2012, 12:08:18 PM »
This will be my 3rd year of Elk hunting and I have been skunked in my first 2.  I go to GMU 340 for modern.  I have yet to even see an Elk and I put miles on my boots.  Does anyone have any tips for this area?  Other people in my hunting party have seen Elk but they were on the run when they saw them.

Is say that's pretty standard 340 from what I've dealt with. some years no elk to be seen and others you can't get away. be persistent and keep a move on. try to find a nice funnel draw for opening day and take a seat. let others move around and push the elk to you. Good luck up there it can be discouraging at times.

The elk average per hunter is i believe 1 out of every 9 years so your still doing pretty good!.. keep trying !.. and another thing about 10% of the hunters shoot 90% of the elk so when your first starting out elk hunting its not easy!... takes awhile to figure it out!... Good luck..
Their going down!!!
