.22?
« on: December 09, 2012, 07:21:22 PM »
How many have you actually killed a coyote with a .22? I know the normal coyote gun is an ar, but I was wondering if any if you have killed them with just a .22 :dunno:

well, if you got time to wait ahwile there is a whole new rimfire calibur coming on the market.

It's a big secret right now though, but it's suppost to be faster than .17HMR.

Speaking of such, .17HMR is so damm fun to shoot you might consider that.
I giggled like a little girl first time I shot mine.  :chuckle:

I killed several way back when I was a teenager... (almost to the stone age)  :chuckle:  My old Mossberg bolt action .22 was quite accurate and with a 24" barrel really spun up them .22 LR.  I took headshots.. either a hit or a miss.  Was quite fun actually.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

I'll toss this here, since it's a rimfire discussion

Any guesses on what this'll be?

Winchester to Introduce World’s Fastest Rimfire Cartridge

by John B. Snow

Keep an eye out for a sizzling new rimfire round from Winchester that’s going to be announced in early 2013. I can’t release specific details right now—a series of confidentiality agreements has seen to that—but I can offer this tidbit.

The new round is going to be the fastest rimfire round available by quite a margin.

This is going to be good news for varmint and small game hunters and, if history is any guide, I’m very optimistic about the accuracy potential of this cartridge too.

One gun maker has already signed up to chamber the cartridge and by the end of 2013, I expect at least two more to jump on the bandwagon.

I have out in Grahm.  Before the dump went in I used to sit up on some old stump piles and call them in.  Almost like shooting from a tree stand.  That area was so brushy and tight a shotgun would have been better.

I'm curious as to what a "rimfire" area is?  .22's, .17's, and .22mags are not allowed in firearm restricted areas unless being shot out of a revolver style handgun. (Stupid I know, but

Killed quite a few yotes with 22's... Always used the high velocity solids... The hollow points sucked for penatration on dogs if you were shooting chest shots...

I've killed a couple.  One was stone cold dead on impact like I shot it with my .300 and the other ran a few hundred yards and piled up.  I'm not too sure it is an ideal caliber and would only use it at pretty close range.

Dad had one that he unloaded the 10 shot Ruger 10/22 in At @ 50-75 yards... Big male yote.... It ran down canyon and was about to jump a creek 240 or so yards away when I leveled it with my 243... Turns out he hit it at least 8 times... 4 of them being in the heart lung area 4 others in it's ass.... I'm sure it would've died... But it could've been miles away by then...    :dunno:   And had one shot @ 45 yards same set up with the  10/22 broadside and it dropped..
