Just read about this, My Family and I are so sorry for you and your Familys' loss. I never met him but it sounds like your Brother was a great person.

Fixed it brother.  The blood was rushing to my head!
It is foolish and wrong to mourn these men.  Rather, we should thank god that such men lived.  -General George S. Patton

What amazing men you are, I didn't have the good fortune to have known your brother Aaron, I've thought about him and your family many times every day since the moment I became aware of this story and your tremendous loss.

I look to meet you in the mountains of Washington Karl and Mike, it's there that I will be thinking of Colockumelk each year while hunting and doing what we love.

I will never forget the life and service of Captain Aaron Blanchard and the tremendous price your family has paid for all of us, thoughts and prayers for peace for the family.
This is the Hunter's badge of glory, That he protect and tend his quarry, Hunt with honour, as is due, And through the beast to God be true.

I logged in for the first time in a while a few days ago and usually I check the most recent posts, elk hunting posts, and threads I have replied to and had not seen the news in the virtual campfire. It was brought to my attention via another thread. With that said, I cannot express my deepest condolences to Capt. Blanchards wife , brothers in blood and arms, or children. I wish I would have known sooner so that I could donate to the wreath, the auction...anything. I am tremendously sorry for missing  that opprotunity. I pray for those close to Capt. Blanchard and hope tht they find peace in thier darkest days.

Thank you all for the wreath. I am the youngest brother. Karl and I cannot thank you all enough for the support shown on this forum. You are all a blessing and there is no way I will ever be able to repay the support you've shown. Thank you.

Mike,
Your brother was a great warrior. I ex-changed e-mails with him on several occasions talking about how he supported some of my men in tight spots. Not only on this deployment, but on others past. Good man. Be it known there are few Spartan types out there willing to lay down everything in the name of freedom.

On this Memorial Day weekend, were thinking of your family.

Thank you.

I corresponded with ColockumElk / Aaron who was a member here and on Sagecreekforums.com for several years.  As his name implies- we shared the love of chasing ELK.

Before he went to flight Army helicopter flight training I told him what is was like for me back in 1966 and offered encouragement- we shared the same excitement and anticipation.

I hadn't heard from for a while after he moved to Ft Drum and just saw an announcment in the Washington Bowhunter so researched the article linked below

Too young my friend.  Prayers for your family.
Keep 'em Straight!!! (and quiet)

Greg

When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter

Seems to me that someone was going to put together a summer gathering up on the Colockum in remembrance...

Whatever happened with that, or perhaps I've been too far out in the weeds lately chasing anti-gunners, and overlooked it.
