I feel really stupid.   All these years instead of looking at its shape I have been doing it by taste.    :bash:
:chuckle:

Pretty rough stuff.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

Don't feel stupid that is yet another secret in the moose game. Taste is how you tell how old a moose is, its basically it's a form of carbon dating.
If it aint broke, dont fix it.

The saltier it is, the bigger the antlers.   That's where they came up with the saying. "Old Salt"

A couple of you are close but, I'm really disappointed so many hunters know so little about accurately determining the sex of a moose via it's droppings.

I'll let you in on the secret so you don't keep embarrassing yourselves around campfires and coffee tables.

If it tastes like chocolate it's a bull.  If it tastes like caramel, it's a cow.

I thought everybody knew that? :dunno:

And all these years I have been looking for a dimple in the droppings.

Here I will explain why your theory was wrong. The turds roll off the bulls sack it does bounce off. This creates the perfect round shape and not the dimple. For the difference between cow and bull, the bull turds stay in contact with the bulls body longer than a cows.

Seems like they always move down this time of the year, not sure why.  It was either last year or 11' that they had one stuck in the Esquatzel Canal north of Pasco.  I hope they take hold wherever they can, away from the damn wolves.

Sorry to get sidetracked.  Let's stay on Course here.  I am learning a lot about Moose Poop Identification.

Actually, I think we have gotten the final word on that, haven't we...?
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Can we get a biologist on hear to clarify what in the male sphincter is different than that of a female sphincter?

Although 6haase6 had a reasonable explanation based on the roll off of the scrotum sack.
