« on: August 19, 2013, 10:39:23 AM »
spent almost all day in the woods yesterday up by darrington and granite and saw nothing but a bunch of hikers.  what gives?  anyone interested in doing a day hike/hunt into mt Sawyer next Monday?

Bears don't like people much so if you are seeing lots of hikers then you need to get out further. Avoid all the popular hiking trails. If you are out and see hikers then try side trails or cross country hike. Get away from high use area's and find food and you will find bears. If you decide to bush wack and cross country hiking make sure someone knows where you are heading in case you get lost.

I feel the same as ripper bears don't like people much and now with the season being in its 3rd week I think you have to get in further and further away from where the other hunters have been hitting the last 2 weeks.

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”

Mt Sawyer gets alot of hiker pressure from both trailheads. I didn't see much sign out there a little over month ago. Warm dry weather withh put them in the cool creek beds.

I've been up in Mt.Baker Nat Forest for 3 days a week since and haven't seen no scat or riped up stumps. Its kinda weird. I might hit the coastal areas and try there this weekend. I've talked to some people that have been in vail and it seems to be the same story.

I think I need to hunt where you hunt, then.
