Looking for info on Willapa Hills unit 506
« on: October 23, 2013, 11:57:59 AM »
I used to hunt it before all the changes in the last two or three years.  How much asses do you get with the pass?  Are all the gates open?  What point are they closed?  Any info would help.

Thanks,
Zip

A lot of it is permitt only. all permits are sold out as of now. There maybe some areas open to walk in, but you need to check first.

Thanks for the info!
I am willing to pay for the pass, I just wanted to know if the unit is really “open” to drive in and walk in.  So how far back can you drive in with the pass are all the gates open?  My group hunted it for 32 years before the change and I am hoping we could get into our old old areas from way back in the day…. :)

Think you might have missed, all the passes are sold.

I drew muzzy cow in the unit and walked well behind locked gates.   Also from what I have heard Rayonier patrols their land pretty well.  Don't know if that is BS just what I was told.

If you have the pass you can get up behind or ell camp and over towards crim creek back over to rayonier land in grays river. Then all the way over to grants pass. So lots of access with the pass. Haven't seen to many people up there so I'm looking forward to elk season. Should be a lot less people than when it was open to everyone

Check the rayonier website it should show the boundaries to its permit areas. Also there are now sogns for areas for discover passes. Pretty sure everyone that put permits out in the unit has a viewable map of the areas.
