Experienced packer
« on: March 03, 2014, 08:58:51 PM »
I'm looking for a few pointers. I live in the yelm area. I have horses, trailer and packs. I was hoping someone with some know how could look at my setup and give me some pointers.

I'd get a hold of your local Backcountry Horseman Chapter, they usually put on a packing clinic and they will have members more then happy to show you and let you tag along on some rides.  if you were closer to the Eastside I would suggest the North Idaho Saddle Mule Club, they do a packing clinic and are always willing to take a guy out.

Buy Smoke Elser's book "Packing in on Horses and Mules".  Read it front to back, back to front, inside to out and outside to in.  It is a phenomenal resource.
