Finally got one.  After countless days hunting Klickitat county over the last few years I got a long beard on Thursday around 5:30 pm and got a jake the next morning around 6:30.

Got him on Wed. He was just strolling by with his brothers in the afternoon in an Oak grove eating acorns. Got me out of my O'fer from last year.

Located this bird just before dark Friday night.  Found him again Saturday morning and worked him 4.5 hours.  Finally walked right in.  First Longbeard for me.  Shot a Jake last year.

So on opening day the morning hunt turned into a winner for the tom's as they would not come in. Then into the woods and I walked up on one tom shot and missed. The afternoon was different as two toms came in and only one left. The bird weighed 22 pounds and had a true 9 inch beard but the odd thing was he has some hairs in his beard that were 14 inches long. Hunting out of Buck Canyon Lodge. Enjoy!!

Here is another pic of Mike and his bird..Also a pic of the 14 inch beard.   What a fun hunt!! Look forward to the fall hunt with Mike. He's not only a good hunters but really knows how to fix computers..Ask me how I know.... :)

Apparently the birds don't like the rain..either do I..so after two days of rain we busted these!!
