Well your uncle J is going to have an awesome year. Sounds like its starting off good with his recent hunts. Can't wait to see the vid. I drew a slide ridge tag this year looking forward to that rifle hunt.

Yeah we have had some luck already this year. Glad to hear from some of our followers on this site as well.

I'll be in there November 15-22 and would be willing to share what I know.

Is this the unit South of I-90 around the Potholes Res.? If so make sure you check with the duck hunters coming off the Potholes. I know I've seen some wall hangers back in the dunes hanging around on islands that time of year.

Yes. It's South of I-90 and West of the potholes. The deer were literally on islands?

Spotting scope , binos.  Hit a sand hill and start scoping And be patient. The bucks are there.
They will show up.  Not to worry.

Yes, deer all over the islands that time of year. Water is just starting to come up after the irrigation season. We get way back in the West arm of the Potholes with our mud boats and spook them up while running around. Taking a boat ride down the Winchester can get you into some areas faster than hiking and also get a nice buck out. Make sure you stop by the Mardon store and ask for Dick Hemore. He's very knowledgeable about the area.

the deer habits will change a lot before your season gets here.  rain helps a lot cuz the sand is easier to walk in and the tracks are new.  best of luck and do lots of scouting.  I think last year the rut started about nov. 10.   mike w
