Wolf in klickitat
« on: July 22, 2014, 09:14:18 AM »
I haven't been on here for awhile, but here is what I found out.i spoke to the owner of schnider farms out a month ago. I was trying to get permission to hunt deer. We also started taking about predator hunting. And he brought up how disappointed there were wolves around. Then I ask where he said he has photos of them and the game dept came out and took copies and confirmed it was a wolf. I found tracks last year above the columbia. So who knows how long til we have a pack

Not surprised a buddy has seen them off the 24 road out side of trout lake.
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

I'm not discounting your story or the fact that there may or may not be wolves there, but I will 99% guarantee you that the state will not "confirm" it was a wolf based on a picture.

Well I guess it there were several pics taking and they told him it was. When I found the tracks last year.    I Called the game dept they told me it wasn't a wolf and it was a big coyote or a hybrid. So me being me I said I guess I can shoot it. And I got a stern that would not be wise

There have been multiple sightings by logging crews on the Yak Rez this summer.  My neighbor drives log truck and has seen one in the same area multiple times also.

They have been up off 97 for awhile now. I know they had them just above the red rock shack last year on the ridge road.

I know a few of the logging guys have heard and seen them on a few occasions. Oh and there is plenty for them to eat and not starve :'(

Not great news. With the lack of habitat in the NF around there, the ungulates are sparse to start. Big cute cuddly wolves won't help that at all. It's all part of the plan.

That right there is funny.  They tell you it isn't a wolf then say it would not be wise to shoot.  :D

My guess is, there is at least one pack in the area, probably more. You won't get a wolf pack confirmed until it starts killing dogs or livestock.
