Scotch Creek at the south end of the Sinlahekin wildlife area, south of Fish lake toward Conconully (please disregard the spelling  :chuckle:). I have never deer hunted it but I have hiked in a ways during turkey season. Saw plenty of deer beautiful steep country once you get off the valley floor. I am certain there will be plenty of people that have a lot more info than I do.

We've got a cabin on one of the lakes in Scotch Creek. Is your tag for mule deer ?

He doesn't have the tag yet, it's Eders land the game department bought a few years back.  Can be good, can be bad.  Good luck if you get it.  If you have decent areas to hunt other than this, stick to what you know.

What you're talking about is the Eder Ranch hunt that WDFW started doing a few years ago. It's just east of Oroville. I wish they'd name their lands something else, other than lumping them in with scotch creek since it's no where close to where the original scotch creek wildlife area is. I believe the Chesaw piece is also scotch creek as well. You'd think they'd at least lump those in with the sinlahekin wildlife area since it's much closer. Just another head scratcher wdfw thing.

I've hunted the original Scotch Cr Wildlife Area many times and taken more than a few deer there. The WDFW naming more areas after the same name just creates confusion.
I do not know anything about the area you're talking about but assume it's very open country. Plan on using your bino's more than your legs. Good luck.

If he means the area around our cabin, it's hilly, rugged cliffs, rolling hills, trees. Sorta have it all area. That's from the Conconully cutoff road to Pine Creek Rd.

I have hunted the loomis area for many years, but not the area where this tag would be for. Just trying to get as much information as I can. Thanks

As I've stated above, what you're applying for in the Eder Ranch hunt east of Oroville.  Research on wdfw website and you'll find the info.

Last time I looked into the Eder Ranch east of Oroville, it was 100 % walk in only.

:yeah: deer hunting by permit only everything else you can do on the ranch without being drawn.  I've had the tag a few years ago.  Not the greatest hunt average bucks on it.  They bought it mainly for wintering grounds.  A lot of the good bucks come later out of Canada once the weather pushes them down.
