Sunday Morning Coyotes and Deer
« on: September 06, 2007, 07:39:06 AM »
I was working on fixing up a trailer this past weekend, but found time to squeeze in a little coyote hunting.  The first two stands produced one each. Third was dry. Fourth had one come in and stand 30 feet to my left, but it snuck out of there in a small ditch when I moved to get on it.  5th stand produced another coyote , and the 6th produced a double. I called it a day at 11:30 and went back to work.

I wish I would have brought my bow, but I did not think I would be able to dedicate the time to an actual hunt.  I would have made time after spotting three nice bucks.  Here is a short clip of the last buck in line.  They were all really close in size, with the two you don't get to see being slightly bigger (sorry)

I also didn't pack my dove decoys or a shotgun, and they were all over the place.  I hate it when work and obligations get in the way of the important things like hunting.

I apologize for the links, but I am unsure how to bring the pictures into the post.  I'll get better in time.

Rick,  I used a new call Sly is working on, a Slydog howler, and a Syco Tweety.  There seems to be a good population of coyotes this year.  The fur was in pretty good shape already.  Another month and it will be about 90% prime I'm guessing.
