Dove Help?
« on: August 20, 2014, 01:55:57 PM »
:hello:   I was wondering if someone cohld help me out. I live in Skagit County and lately have been noticing alot of doves fly over a rock quarry next to where  my mom lives. I was wondering if it would be legal to hunt there. Also if anyone could possibly giveme any tips on dove hunting as far as gear, ammo, decoys, and anything else that might go into dove huntin! This will be my very first year of hunting so I was wondering if anyone could help out the newb :chuckle:

Yes, 1oz of shot is plenty - 1 1/8 max.

The most important part - you need a lot of shells!  :chuckle:  You don’t need to spend a lot on them, even the light loads work well.

Learn to identify Eurasian doves. There are no limits on those.

Ask permission before hunting it (obviously)
And if you ever hunted pheasant, grouse, chuckar, ducks etc, they fly fast (they can fly up to 55mph! not including pigeons or collard doves).
Always aim ahead!
Shouldn't be too hard to figure out, so good luck

p.s here's a good video on cleaning them.
