2015-2017 Hunting Season Survey is faulty
« on: August 26, 2014, 10:30:33 PM »
Okay, this is just one example, but the problem is it will only allow one selection. I want to select alternatives 1, 3, & 4. But I can only pick one. How am I supposed to decide on only one alternative when I want all three?   :bash:

General Issues - Equipment

Issue # Issue Title
2 Changes to allowed equipment for hunting.
Background Information:

As technology advances hunters often seek to use new or improved equipment.

WDFW attempts to provide equitable opportunity between weapon choice user groups given the limitations of the weapon choice and the participation rates of the user group.

Changes to allowed equipment that may increase harvest or hunter success rates could lead to shorter seasons, or other changes, if game populations or allocation between user groups are affected.

Category: General Issues - Equipment

Region(s): Statewide

Location: Statewide

Alternatives

Alternative #1: Allow the use of crossbows for turkey hunting.

Alternative #2: Allow select user groups (youth, disabled) to use crossbows to hunt Turkey.

Alternative #3: Allow the use of crossbows (with scopes) for big game hunting during modern firearm seasons.

Alternative #4: Allow the use of airguns (minimum 22 caliber and 800 feet per second) for hunting rabbits, hares and turkey.

Alternative #5: Status Quo: Maintain current restrictions on hunting equipment.

I was thinking the same thing on that question.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

yeah I wanted to do that too.

I would like them to allow red dot sights, straight tube on muzzle loaders for older guys with poor vision.

We definitely should be able to use those .22 cal airguns for grouse and rabbits. The have more then enough power to deliver quick clean kills :bfg:

Well, since I was only allowed one choice, I chose number three. I never could understand why crossbows shouldn't be legal during modern firearm season. Seems like a no brainer. I have permission to hunt some private land not far from where I live. The only stipulation being that only archery equipment is allowed. I don't necessarily agree with that, since a shotgun or muzzleloader would be plenty safe enough in this area. But hey, the landowner gets to make the rules, it's their land. Now if I could legally hunt with a crossbow I just might do that, during modern season. It's okay with the landowner, but it's not okay with the state. Why?
